Paying Attention

Attention.  What is attention and how do we truly pay it?  Why do we say “pay” attention?

Paying attention is more than focusing our mind on something and it is even more than awareness.  It is an inner stillness of mind, body and emotions.  It is a suspension of mind, body and emotions to become aware of themselves.  It is giving something or someone the importance, dedication and respect to stop movement within ourselves to become alert and aware of all aspects of that thing, situation or person.  Paying something or someone attention is in essence meditation, for meditation is tuning into awareness with a suspension of self-input and an openness to receive.  So, to pay or give something or someone attention is to honor or respect them or it enough to still your inner chatter, place your awareness on all aspects of your focus and to therefore receive clarity, truth and insight.

That choice to place your mind on a subject, needs to be powered by something, that something is the heart and will to give that attention as well as an internal expansion of senses to become aware.

In Gratitude and Love.
